About The Breed

In general

"Bichon Frisé is cute! So white and furry and adorable in any ways! And for more, it doesn´t cause allergies!" If this is more or less all the information you have about this breed, I warmly recommend you to read forward.

A Bichon Frisé can be all and even more than stated above. But to have that kind of a Bichon, it takes quite an amount of work, dedication and knowledge. Without any or only with little effort you probably will not get that "perfect pet" you dreamt of.

We breeders are always willing to give our experience to help and advice you. Your concider is only to act the way recommended. Usually those new puppy owners who are ready to follow correctly the instructions given with a puppy, manage very fine without problems caused by wrong or insufficient care.

Bichon Frisé is a wonderful choise if you like to have a dog mainly for a company. That is what Bichon is made for. They also are great if you plan to participate dog shows. Bichon Frisé loves to be in the center of an attention and when correctly taken care of, prepared and trained is also very showy and usually a familiar sight on a high placing in dog shows.

Bichon Frisé is joyful, little, white and thick-coated dog with black eyes and nose. When rationally kept, he is never angry or too shy. Main things to consider when thinking to have a Bichon are quite hard coat care (whether pet or show dog), which takes time, funds and effort and "teaching" a bichon in a way he will become easy, happy pet. The main mistake new owners do is that they "protect" this cute, little puppy too much. Remember, the more you - or anybody - give any kind of experiences in right ways to your puppy the more easygoing dog you will have. It is important to use common sense without exaggerating things. And do not hesitate to ask if you are insecure about something!

Of course there are lots of other things too to think before purchasing a puppy, but they are more or less same with every breed. By reading lots of books or getting info otherwise gives you an image how it will be to have a puppy in a house. You can always also call or e-mail me to ask more, if you got interested in the breed.

Dog allergy

It is more than common for every breeder to get calls from  allergic people who have heard Bichon Frisé is allergy-free breed. Sad to say but also a Bichon Frisé has to renew it´s skin and therefore also this breed flakes. That scurf can cause allergy as any other and there are absolutely no quarantee of this allergy-freeness. One will get it, others will not. I myself have been allergic to dogs all my life, but I in some point made a decision to manage with my symptoms which I do get slightly from Bichons also (only slightly just because this breed is to be washed so often). But I am very aware of the fact that some day I might have to give up this hobby I love, and forgo my dogs. But to do it, I really have to be near to death before:)

I want to stress, that everyone considering getting a Bichon, should first seriously think also the possibility to become allergic to the breed, cause - as with every other breed - it is possible.
